Reginald Love
A Life Shaped by Resilience and Service
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 17, 1957, Reginald Love’s journey is one of remarkable perseverance and purpose. From humble beginnings to becoming a celebrated minister and poet, Reginald’s life story reflects unwavering determination, the power of faith, and a commitment to uplifting others through his work.
Reginald’s childhood was marked by profound challenges. At just five years old, his father, a construction worker, suffered a debilitating accident, leading the family to relocate to Bluff, a rural community in southeastern Oklahoma. Despite the difficulties of growing up in a segregated and remote environment, Reginald excelled in school. After attending Lincoln Elementary, he transferred to Soper schools, where he not only achieved academic success but also shone as a talented athlete in baseball and basketball. He was named salutatorian of his junior high class and graduated third overall in high school. Speaker of the House Carl Albert later nominated him to attend West Point.
A Scholar, Athlete, and Leader
Reginald continued his education at junior college, where he was listed in Who’s Who Among Junior College Students. His academic achievements earned him a place on the Dean’s Honor Roll, and he became a leader as president of the African-American Club and a member of the varsity basketball team. With an ROTC scholarship, Reginald graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. His leadership extended to his military service, where he rose to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army, receiving commendation medals as both a mortar and tank platoon leader.
A Journey of Transformation and Purpose
In 1988, Reginald embarked on a new chapter, achieving sobriety and finding a deeper calling. Since 2011, he has served as a minister and evangelist, delivering God’s Word through his unique and powerful poetic voice. His works blend personal faith, biblical teachings, and poetic artistry to inspire audiences and convey timeless messages of hope, perseverance, and spiritual strength.
A Passionate Teacher and Advocate
Beyond his ministry, Reginald dedicated himself to education, teaching physical education while also enjoying his favorite pastimes—bowling, fishing, working out, and playing sports. His life’s work reflects his belief in the transformative power of community, faith, and the written word.
Through his poetry and ministry, Reginald Love continues to touch hearts, encouraging individuals to overcome challenges, embrace faith, and live with purpose.
